We want all children to have a future — one that is not determined by their poverty. We want the communities in which we work to blossom and flourish and we want to protect the environment for the benefit of future generations.

Who are we

We (Nick and Mads) volunteered at the Burns Centre over Christmas and New Year of 2004/5.

Our original voluntary plans were scuppered when Nick broke his arm biking down the 'World's most dangerous road' in Bolivia. It turned out that the monkeys at the animal sanctuary were too interested in eating Nick's plaster than being rescued, so we moved on to Cochabamba and discovered the Burns Centre. This turn of events was the seed behind Que rico! and we are so happy that fate dealt that hand.

We met Kirsten, a Swiss nurse at the hostel in Cochabamba and although only two weeks into her South American travels she was inspired to help.

Behind the name

Que Rico! Came straight from the mouth of a young boy called Kevin - burnt from head to toe and in terrible pain he was one of the bravest people we have met.

Kevin's optimism, generous heart and beautiful personality in the face of such adversity were truly inspiring and we hope that you will make to him and many others by supporting our work.
